I took this picture of a raptor today, around K Street in Washington, DC. At first it was on the ground, and for a moment thought that it might be a pigeon, though out was about three or four times as tall as any pigeon I have ever seen.
It flew up to a nearby tree, which is where I snapped this picture. A ‘raptor’ is a general name for predatory birds like hawks and falcons, among others.
It consistently amazes me the way nature always seems to find a way, no matter what it is that we do–whether intentional or not–to obstruct it.
