I just purchased a ticket to see ” Thor” at the beautiful Lowes Uptown. Calling this space a ‘movie theater’ is like calling a Corvette a just a car, as opposed to the piece of handsome, Porsche-beating, high-performance machinery that it is.
The Uptown harkens back to a time where theaters were big, spacious, when the goal wasn’t to squeeze as many people into as small a space as possible. The screen is huge, and hasn’t been divided up into seemingly hundreds of postcard sized micro-screens.
There’s a balcony, and while I have never watched a film from there, if the view is as good as it is from the lower seats, you can’t go wrong.
